Wondering what we do all year and who does it? Here’s your Answers!
We hope you will take the time to participate with your children or even volunteer for some of our great programming.
Mum Flower Sale
Malley’s Candy Sale – Who doesn’t love Malley’s chocolate? PTA conveniently offers this program around the spring holidays. You can order on-line or fill out the form that is sent home. Malley’s will either deliver directly to your home or you can pick up your treats at school on a specified day. Volunteer coordinators are needed to complete and distribute candy fliers and collect forms that are turned in. Volunteers may also be needed to sort the orders that are delivered to the school and to help with the distribution day.
School Sponsored Fundraisers – Please note, there are two additional fundraisers in the fall, a magazine sale and a cookie dough sale that are sponsored by the school. These fundraisers are important as they support Lee Eaton staff’s ability to purchase and upgrade technology for the school, as well as sponsor other events such as our school’s field day activities. Please consider supporting these staff sponsored fundraisers. No PTA volunteers are needed for these two fundraisers.
YEAR LONG COMMITMENTS:
PTA Website – Our Lee Eaton PTA website can be found through the district’s website by clicking on PTA or https://www.nordoniapta.com/lee-eaton.
The website contains the most current information about PTA events and activities as well as links to meeting minutes, newsletters, contact information for our event planners, and forms you may need. Our website manager updates the site with new information as needed.
Facebook Page - – Have you seen our Lee Eaton Facebook Page Yet? Look us up under Lee Eaton PTA. We would love for you to “Like” our page so you will receive regular updates and information from us, along with photos of school events and every day activities. It’s a fun way to keep up with what is happening at school!
Golden Knights Award Breakfast – Each month the Principal or Associate Principal will pick students who they believe went above and beyond or showed great character traits.
Box Tops for Education –Found on many General Mills products, Lee Eaton receives $.10 for each box top we remit. Classroom or hallway contest are offered throughout the year so ask your friends and family to collect them for you too! A collection box is located in the school lobby for your convenience.
Birthday Book Club – In the fall, you will receive a form allowing you, if you choose, to donate a book to the library in your child’s name. Books are preselected by our librarian and all participating children will be allowed to choose the book they will donate from the librarian’s list. A bookplate will be created honoring your child and he or she will receive a certificate for their donation that will be enjoyed by many children for years to come. The coordinator for this program sends home the parent letters, creates the bookplates and certificates, and delivers book orders to the librarian so the children may choose a book.
Mileage Club - Mileage club gives students the opportunity to run or walk a marked course three times each week during recess, weather permitting in the fall and in the spring, and earn charms as they accumulate miles during the season. Students who complete the most miles are recognized. A PTA coordinator runs the program, and volunteers are needed to help during all recess periods on Mileage Club days to track students’ progress and distribute the charm rewards. This is a popular recess time activity and we hope you will consider volunteering!
Grade Level Events:
Each year, our PTA sponsors and provides volunteers for an event for each grade level that is both educational and fun. Volunteers are needed to organize and coordinate all activities related to each event.
Sixth Grade Celebration – A fun farewell to our departing sixth graders takes place in June during the school day. It is a day of fun activities to celebrate the students hard work and success at Lee Eaton!
Other Events for Students:
Fun N Stuff Night– An evening of fun at Fun n Stuff in Macedonia for Lee Eaton Families and Friends only! Discount tickets for the evening are sold at school or can be purchased at the door. The co-chairs for this event work with the Fun n Stuff staff to plan our evening, coordinate ticket sales at school and at the door, and notify families of the coming event.
Book Fair – This is a significant event for our school, and is not a fundraiser, but an opportunity for PTA to give students the gift of reading. Book fair is one week in November. Students will receive a $5 gift card, compliments of PTA to shop for a book with their class during school hours. There are also many morning and possibly evening opportunities for families to shop together with your students. PTA provides each teacher with a $25 grant to purchase books for their classrooms, and any cash profit made during the book fair is donated back to our librarian to purchase new materials for our students. Co-chairs for this program are responsible for planning around the book fair theme, communicating the class time, morning, and evening schedules to our families, coordinating many volunteers to support all of our shopping times, as well as set up and tear down of the book fair.
Ice Cream Social Family Night – Held during book fair, this event allows you to attend a family night at school with your child, sponsored by PTA, and shop at the book fair in the evening. Volunteers are needed to serve and clean up during the ice cream social. The chair of this event plans the ice cream social and secures the food and volunteers needed for the event.
Veterans Day Breakfast – On Veterans Day, we honor those family members of our Lee Eaton students who have served our country. Volunteers provide breakfast for these deserving Veterans to thank them for their service. Our choir and band also perform for our Veterans, who are then invited to visit our students in their classrooms to share their experiences. The coordinator of this event works with our Lee Eaton staff to plan the day’s activities, and secures all volunteers needed to provide and serve breakfast. This coordinator also helps with communicating the event to families.
PTA Sponsored Assemblies – Your PTA fundraising dollars help to pay for various assemblies and speakers throughout the year. More to come ...

The co-chairs will determine the menu needs for the week, and coordinate volunteers to prepare food as well as set up and clean up on the days of the scheduled events. Co-chairs will also communicate the week’s events to parents and staff in advance.
Other PTA Sponsored Committees/Programs:
PTA also provides these services to our school community
Scholarship Committee – Lee Eaton PTA provides two $500 scholarships for graduating seniors who attended Lee Eaton School. The committee reviews the applications in the spring and selects the recipients. The committee chair coordinates the reading of the applications, the selection process, and communicates with the HS guidance office during the process.
School Kits –Volunteers are needed prior to the start of the school year to sort and distribute to the classrooms all of the supply kits that were ordered the prior spring. The event chair works with our district’s School Kits representative to distribute and collect the school supply order forms and place the order for our school, as well as coordinating the volunteers that will be needed to sort and distribute the kits in August.
VAST – Volunteers Aiding Students and Teachers – Consider becoming a VAST Volunteer! You will receive a VAST sign up form with all of PTA’s events and activities. We would love for you to sign up for one or more events. You can also sign up to help in your child’s classroom if he or she uses volunteers or even another teacher on your child’s team. Our VAST coordinator will work with the teachers requesting volunteers to plan a schedule. Whether you can come in weekly, or even once a month, or just occasionally, we can always use your help at Lee Eaton!
Spirit Wear Sales – Spirit wear is now available all year long! Funds from these sales are used to support our Squire Store and Character Cash program. Look for specials in the fall and around holidays! Forms will come home with your student, or you can find the link on our PTA website!
Red Cross Babysitting Course – This is another popular program with our Lee Eaton Students sponsored by our PTA. We hope to host two classes this year, in which students (aged 11-12) have an opportunity to become Red Cross certified babysitters! Look for information to come home in the fall about this popular class that is typically held on a Saturday or day off from school.
Mini-Grants - On an annual basis and as funds permit, Lee Eaton PTA awards mini-grants to teachers and staff to be used for the benefit of the students of Lee Eaton. These mini-grants are used for activities, projects, and programs that will enrich and enhance the education and welfare of the students.
Membership - Be sure to join the PTA! Your $7.00 membership fee gives you a voting voice in our programs and activities and helps with the funding. In addition, all PTA members have access to free online training, newsletters, bulletin boards, special product offerings or discounts, and more offered by Ohio and National PTA. Check outwww.pta.org/member/benefits for benefits and resources to paid PTA members. Most important, however, joining PTA gives you a voice on important education issues on the state and national level.
